How HostFinder identifies website infrastructure
HostFinder resolves public DNS records for the submitted domain, then uses public RDAP registration data for the observed IP address. It can also display reverse DNS, nameservers, mail servers and canonical-name records.
Hosting company vs. public network
The organization controlling a public IP is not always the company that sold the website owner a hosting plan. Resellers, managed platforms, CDNs, reverse proxies and DDoS-protection providers can sit between a site and its origin. For that reason, HostFinder describes the result as the public network observed unless the evidence supports a more specific classification.
CDNs and hidden origins
When a known edge provider is detected, HostFinder warns that the origin may be hidden. It does not attempt to bypass that protection.
Safety and privacy
The public lookup does not fetch arbitrary user-supplied IP URLs, scan ports, authenticate to servers, or attempt to discover private infrastructure. Results come from public DNS and registration records.
