WHY HOSTFINDER

A host lookup should show evidence, not guess.

Many websites sit behind Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai or another reverse proxy. In those cases the public IP belongs to the edge network, not necessarily the origin host. HostFinder labels that distinction instead of pretending the origin is visible.

What we check

  • A and AAAA addresses
  • Reverse DNS
  • IP registration / ASN clues
  • Nameservers
  • MX mail servers
  • CDN / proxy indicators
FAQ

Common questions

Can HostFinder always identify the actual hosting company?

No. A CDN, reverse proxy, DDoS service or enterprise network can conceal the origin infrastructure. When that happens HostFinder reports the public edge network and marks the origin as potentially hidden.

Does this scan or attack the website?

No. The MVP performs DNS lookups and queries public RDAP registration data. It intentionally does not make arbitrary requests to user-supplied IP addresses or private origin servers.

What is RDAP?

Registration Data Access Protocol is the modern standards-based successor to traditional WHOIS for retrieving public registration data about IP networks and domains.

Can I use this in bulk?

Bulk lookups and an API are planned for HostFinder Pro. The public MVP rate-limits requests to protect the service.
